Ok, the follow up to my rant below. Visited with Dr. Nelson Davino with Richmond Bone and Joint, I had heard he didn't have a good bedside, but I found him quite pleseant. He was familiar with my pediatrician when she interned at Texas Children's and he finds her on top of her game. He, himself, said he was suprised I was the one doing all of Lila's follow up without the aid of a WS Clinic, I told him if I had one close by I certainly would be involved with it. All in all the assessment went well, he was very pleased with her gait, posture , spine, tone etc. He did mention that we will see some of the issues such as tight muscles, possibly kypthosis (sp) later, and that is only since it is prevalent in WS, especially when puberty hits. He is comfortable with seeing her every 2 years, except of course if we see some changes. He said to save my money for future therapy if needed, he saw no reason right now to go for PT privately. I told him that I do Yoga and he said that would be excellent to keep her stretching, of course just not real intense poses. I am breathing very well now. Now on to endocrinology................yippee.
Freaking out (again, imagine that), Lila has her orthopedics appointment tomorrow (tuesday June 10th) and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on some items I need to touch on, besides the noted "Othopedic Issues, Musculoskeletal and neurologic assessments to evaluate joints, muscle tone, spasticity and hyperactive reflexes"? The orthopedist is pediatric and is used to working with genetic issues. I am going to go over, scoliolsis (not present at this time, but has only been checked through her pediatrician), toe walking and hopping while walking. What else, for Gods Sake???
