Part 2 Texas Children's Hospital Endocrinology

She looks pretty good considering she was up at the crack of dawn. She actually bee bopped into my bedroom at 6:30 am ready to watch one of her shows. I let her relax and have her breakfast while I got ready. All the snacks were packed last night because her snacks and my breakfast are veeeerry important, especially when we are 1 hour away from home and I don't like to eat super early in the morning. Left Daddy and Ava snoozing and out into the humidity we go, you know the humidity that keeps our skin soooo moist (gotta see the positive)and supple. Skated into the department just in time for our appointment, Lila greeted and I waited and waited, buzzer goes off and we begin the dance. The minute I walked in I spotted the offending party. She was on the phone and I knew that voice. Then the gaggle of them chatting and me trying to keep Lila calm, I let them know the more we wait the more she is upset is going to be. This is what happened next.

How anyone gets a accurate BP on these kids amazes me. Never happens for us.

Meet with Dr. Andrea Balazs, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism. Pretty cool lady. Explained that since her testing was only slightly elevated on the first test and well within normal on this past test, she was pretty comfortable with Lila's growth. She did want to take more blood to do the thyroid antibody testing and a thyroid ultrasound in order to get a baseline (no big hurry on that one) Lila shows no symptoms of a thyroid disorder so this will be our back up information if needed. We will visit once a year or if we see any symptoms, dry skin, thinning hair, excessive thirst, lethargic etc. Down to the lab for more blood, you think the vital taking was bad? Nothin compared to blood draw. Escaped from there, then to get our tanks filled with our snacks and mommy's venti cafe americano.

Once Lila was content with her snacks the "Hi, how are you" friendly rounds began, she took the camera and proceeded to take photos and me trying to wrangle her.

Back on the freeway to freedom! Made it back in time for her tutor and me to get back to the mayhem of work. Yippee. Now we wait for the antibody lab results and the scheduling of the ultrasound. Next Audiology, stay tuned................

Wow sounds busy. We don't do well with blood work either. In fact he lost his mind when he got weighed and measured today at WIC. Do you ever just get so sick of the "HI" stuff? For the most part I laugh it off, but somedays even I am not in the mood, and he totally picks up on it and does it twice as much. He is such a turkey.

You and I were wrangling our kids in the hospital at the same time. :) They have never gotten an accurate BP on Niko, either.

I want to tell you that between reading your posts and your comments to mine, I have really grown to love you. We are so going to triumph.
